Alessandro Becchi

Born in 1946 in Florence (passed 1987). After studying at ISIA(Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche) in Florence, he began his career as a designer. He designed the iconic ‘Anfibio’ sofa in 1971. The following year he was invited to exhibit his design at MoMA in New York for the show "ltaly: the New Domestic Landscape".
His collaboration with Giovannetti, for which he designed a series of sofas with bed function, such as Only You, Brando, Diletto and the famous series of armchairs Le Bugie.
He developed a deep emotional bond and excellent working relationship with Benito Giovannetti of Giovannetti Collezioni who produced all of his designs. His ‘Anfibio’ sofa is now in 12 contemporary art museums around the world as part of permanent collections.
